"Pilate therefore said unto Him, Are You a king then? Jesus answered, You say that I am a King. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the Truth. Every one who is of the Truth hears My Voice. Pilate said unto Him, What is Truth? And when he had said this , he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, I find in Him no fault at all.

John 18: 37&38

As it was in the time of Jesus, and for that matter, since the beginning, man has always questioned, what Truth is. In the day, and age we live in now, it is just as much in question, maybe even more so. Political agendas, social issues, and religious beliefs, promote truth that is subjective, subjective to the narrative of that particular group. In today's scripture, we see two sides in this situation, the Jewish leaders, who are seeking to crucify Jesus, and Pilate who is looking for truth in this matter, albeit for personal and political reasons. He simply would not buy the story of the Jews, stating "I find no fault in Him at all," but finally, gave in to their political pressure. It is said there is three sides to every story, yours , mine, and the truth. There are two opposing sides, both having facts, perceived by each,to be true. But the truth of the matter, lies in between. In this passage, the Jews and Pilate, are going back and forth about Jesus, and His fate. (not that they had any authority, other than what God allowed). All the while, The Truth was right in front of both of them, Jesus. We, especially as believers, should understand that Truth, is not just an accumulation of true facts, but a Person, The Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus states, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life,"( John 14:6 ). In this statement, He proclaims exactly Who, and What He is. In our day, and since the fall of man, deception has been the tool, that Satan has used against all of mankind. He has throughout history, deceived mankind with lies, false narratives, and illusions of grandeur, feeding man's pride, and ego. These deceptions, need an element of truth, in order to be successful. There is only one absolute Truth, the Word of God. Jesus is the sum total, and embodiment of all Truth. ( John 1: 1-14) This, is what the enemy of our souls is truly after, our faith. He is determined to undermine our faith, by getting us to doubt the Truth of God's Word. There is another saying that says, " God said it, I believe it, that settles it.”As far as the Truth of God’s Word goes, “God said it, THAT settles it”! Whether I believe it or not, has no bearing on the Truth being the Truth. My believing the Truth , is key for me to appropriate and incorporate Truth in my life. Jesus said in John 16:13, that the Holy Spirit will guide us in all Truth. The more of God’s Word we believe, and get into our heart, the more resource we have to resist the devil. Just as Jesus fought the enemy’s temptation, in Mathew chapter 4, we also stand with Truth against the deceptions of the world, our own desires, and the devil. Remember, God said it, that settles it, so believe it! After all, It is the Truth.
