"And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the House of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. And as the Ark of the Lord came up into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart."

2 Samuel 6: 14-16 " And David said unto Michal,it was before the Lord, Who chose me before your father, and before all this house, to appoint me ruler over the People of the Lord, over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord."

2 Samuel 6:21

"Don’t forget who brought you”

There is a saying that we often hear in the world and society. The saying is "dance with the one that brought you". It was brought into modern culture , as a sports metaphor by University of Texas football coach, Darrell Royal, in 1971. It also became a favorite political saying, of former president Ronald Reagan, during the 1980's and since then has been used in songs, movies books, as well as in many other walks of life. The saying speaks of commitment and loyalty to those who have been supportive and helpful to you. It also relates to ways that have been successful. Commitment, no matter what comes. Loyalty whether in good times or bad times, and not when it just suits you. Considering the current political atmosphere, in our country, there are people in government, that need to remember this.

In today's scriptures, we see David and all of Israel, celebrating the bringing of the Ark of the Lord, to Jerusalem. But before this celebrating, a great tragedy happened. David, the king, the leader of Israel, sinned in a way that spurred the anger of God. It caused the death of Uzzah. Even though Uzzah, who attended to the Ark of the Lord while it was in his father's house, should have known how to respect the Sacred Vessel, it was David's decision to bring It up in that improper manner. God was specific in how the Vessel of His Covenant, would be brought forth, and by who. The Law of Moses said the Ark must be carried on the shoulders of the Priests. The Ark had been neglected, for nearly 70 years. Israel, for the most part, had forgotten the proper reverence and respect for that which is the Holiest of God.

David had prayed for guidance from the Lord, regarding fighting the Philistines, but didn't seek the Lord on handling the Ark of the Lord. Rather than seeking the Lord, he sought the counsel of men, and brought forth the Ark of the Lord, as their enemies, the Philistines did. They carried the Ark on a cart. They treated this Most Sacred Vessel, in the same manner as the world. They disregarded the One, Who brought them to this point.

Here we are, 3000 years later, and making the same "mistake" that they made, we forgot how we as a nation, got to this point, we are neglecting our heritage. This country was founded on the Judeo-Christian values of the forefathers, and God blessed this country. "In God we Trust" wasn't just a cliche', it was the core value of the founders. There was no separation of Church and State. The history of America is filled with stories, of men from every walk of life, living life and making decisions, based on 'In God we Trust". In recent history, these values have been attacked, some lost and gone. The devil, the principality over the evil fighting for the soul of our country ,has American core values, on the ropes, tying to deliver the knockout punch.

The re-writing of history, altering and denying historical events, is one of his ploys to accomplish his ultimate goal, to eliminate Christianity from our culture. True Christianity that addresses issues, makes decisions, and takes a stand, based on “ In God we Trust”. The social reform we see today, has no reverence or respect for God, or his Word, outside of political agenda. The dependence and trust of society today, is more so in government and it’s agencies, rather than trusting in the Lord, as the country’s forefathers. Forgetting also, the people, from every walk of life, who laid down their lives for this country. I make this plea, to the people who love the Lord, the Church of the Ever-Living God, let’s speak out, and stand up, for that which is right. Let’s remember the Faith of our fathers, who said “In God we Trust”, and remind this country, “don’t forget Who brought you” here.
