"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress: My God; in Him will trust.
Psalms 91: 1&2
As I was praying, asking the Lord if there was something He wanted me to do, I knew, as he answered, that this site is what He wanted me to do. As I shared before, how reconnecting with my Uncle Al, inspired me to reflect, and write again, the Lord showed me, this is to be the platform, for now. He has directed me each step of this process. Instructing me on formatting, selecting images, and inspiring my posts. At times, as I sit at the computer writing, always with Bible in front, it's like He's looking over my shoulder, instructing me, "write this, delete that, use this scripture, phrase it this way" always editing, as we go. To the world, to the natural minded person and our human ego, this type of instructing would be considered, micro managing. Many, take offense at this type of supervising, not only in the workplace, but even in our journey of faith. After all, as the old Frank Sinatra song goes, we want to do it "my way".
In today's scripture, the Psalmist (believed to be Moses) tells us that, as we live in the secret place of God, that we will also be in His shadow. To our human ego,and pride, to be in "someones shadow",means to be in a place of inferiority, where we're perceived, as not as good as, or the things we do don't measure up. We push, shove, jostle for position, claw our way up, out of the shadow, to make a name or a place for ourselves. Often, at the expense of others, possibly, leaving us open for ridicule, and attacks on our character, and integrity. In extreme cases, even physical violence. Always looking over your shoulder, and wondering, or worrying, is not a secure frame of mind.
But, in the Kingdom of God, in His Presence, to be in His shadow, is a much different place. When we surrender to Christ, cast all our sins on Him, and His Complete,Perfect,Sacrificial Work on the Cross, He accepts us, no matter, who we are, where we are, or what we have done. He welcomes us as we are, with arms wide open, and nothing but Love for us. But he doesn't leave us where he finds us , or in the condition we are in. He leads to come unto Him, and he always has our best interests in Mind. If we are willing to follow, listen, and practice what He says.
We are then in Christ Jesus. (Eph. 2) To be in Him, positions us to be seated together in "Heavenly places", in the secret place of the Most High. This position,in Him, the shadow of the almighty, is a place of Comfort, Peace, Forgiveness, Healing, and every, good and perfect gift that comes from being in right relationship with Him. He is our Refuge, our place of shelter and rest, a place of guidance, and direction for our next steps on our path. He is our Fortress, a place of security, strength, and encouragement, to press on. If we trust in Him, this is our position of operation, because He is the "sure foundation" that we can build our lives on. In the Book of Matthew, chapter 11, verse 28, the Lord gives us an invitation to "Come unto Me, all you who labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." When we trust Him, accept this invitation, we will find that, in Him, in His Shadow, truly is the " safest place."
